Some sessions feel like a family affair, and Breezie’s was exactly that. On a warm summer day in Caledonia, Wisconsin, her owner Rebecca brought the whole family along to help. Her mum and her kids all pitched in at a family member’s barn, and it made for a relaxed, happy session.
Meet Breezie
Chrome Dun Skipped me, known as Breezie, is a 7 year old buckskin mare training for western pleasure and trail riding. She is a pretty little horse with plenty of natural detail. Her golden coat carries a dorsal stripe down her back and leg barring, the faint zebra-like stripes on her lower legs known as primitive markings. Add a bright white blaze and she is hard to look away from.
One of Rebecca’s favourite memories with Breezie is their first trail ride together. It is a fitting milestone for a young horse with so much ahead of her.
Black Background Fine Art Portraits in Caledonia
Breezie wore a western headstall with silver conchos and burgundy detailing, and it suited her perfectly. Against the black background, every detail stands out: the shine on the silver, the warm gold of her coat and that crisp white blaze.
She was very well behaved from start to finish. Young horses don’t always settle into a session, but Breezie stood quietly, kept her ears up and made my job easy. Her close-up, framed between her ears, is one of my favourites from the day.

Thank you to Rebecca and the whole family for making this such a lovely day, and to Lea Knapp for hosting us at the barn. Breezie, you were a star.
