Jed was one of nine horses I photographed at the fine art Barn Day that Megan Dischler organized at her barn, Dressage Solutions, in Eagle, Wisconsin, and his portraits are a lovely reminder of what a little patience can do.
Jed and Megan, an Effortless Partnership
Jed, registered as Jedediah, is a KWPN-NA registered Dutch Warmblood owned by Megan, who is also the owner and trainer at Dressage Solutions. He is by the KWPN stallion Negro, best known as the sire of Valegro, and out of a mare by Flemmingh, another influential Dutch stallion. Jed and Megan compete in dressage together.
What stands out most about the two of them is how naturally their partnership came together. Megan says they never really had to work on their relationship. It came so easily that it felt effortless from the start.

Settling into the Studio
Jed was a little apprehensive when he first stepped into the studio, which is completely normal for a sensitive horse in a new setup. With a bit of time, he settled in beautifully, and the portraits show it. His rich chestnut coat glows against the black background, and his braided mane, white blaze, and crystal browband give every image a polished, show-ready finish.
Barn Days take place right in the barn aisle, so each horse can relax in familiar surroundings, which makes a real difference for horses like Jed. Have a few friends at your barn who would love portraits too? Find out how Barn Day mini sessions work.

More from This Barn Day
Jed shared the studio with eight other horses that day. Meet Rafacito, Megan’s young palomino Lusitano, Maestoso Gradita, a Lipizzan stallion from the Tempel Lipizzans, Rafa, Emily’s Lusitano FEI dressage schoolmaster, Orion and Bana, Indy, Christina’s Friesian, and Queenie, Christina’s Hanoverian. Plus Maestoso Batosta, a Lipizzan stallion from the Tempel Lipizzans.
Megan, thank you for organizing our Barn Day, opening up your barn to us, and bringing Jed into the studio. Watching him relax and settle in was one of my favourite moments of the day.
