Mallory + Hugo | Horse + Rider and Fine Art Portraits | KD Sport Horses, Watertown, WI

,

Why do just a horse + rider session or fine art portraits when you can do both? This is exactly what Mallory did with her Hanoverian Hickstead Bay (“Hugo”) this past fall at KD Sport Horses in Watertown, WI. Last fall, Mallory and her 4-year-old gelding braved the cold and windy weather for their big dual portrait session. Despite the overcast sky and the wind kicking up, the duo created magic wherever they went!

Hugo proved to be a natural in front of the camera, posing brilliantly for his fine art portraits in the barn. Mallory, always by his side, provided comfort and guidance, which brought out his confidence for some stunning portraits.

Mallory’s favourite memory with Hugo was the journey to the East Coast with her best friend to find and bring him home to Wisconsin as her new partner in sport. The pair, involved in show jumping has begun to make appearances at WEC Ohio and is setting the stage for a bright future together.

The adventure continued as they explored the farm, finding a lovely fenceline backdrop with fall trees and heading up the hillside for outfit changes and more portraits against the farmland below. We captured the essence of their growing partnership, turning the cold autumn day into a beautiful setting for their shared story.

The resulting portraits show Hugo in all his glory against a black backdrop, as well as showcasing the beauty of their bond and dreams during their horse and rider session. Mallory and Hugo’s photo day proves that even on a chilly day, the magic of your connection with your horse can shine through in beautiful, earthy portraits that become timeless memories.
